The short version: WodWiz keeps your training log for you and your gym. What you log is shared with the people in your gym, and nobody else. We don't sell your data, we don't show ads, and the app has no advertising or analytics trackers. You can download everything you've logged, or delete your account, from Settings at any time, or by emailing us. Questions: hello@wodwiz.com.

Who we are

WodWiz is made by WodWiz LLC, a Connecticut limited liability company (“WodWiz”, “we”, “us”), which is responsible for the information described here. This policy covers the WodWiz apps (on your phone and at app.wodwiz.com) and this website, including the benchmark pages and the launch waitlist. You can reach us at hello@wodwiz.com.

What we collect in the app

  • Your account: your email address and password (stored by our sign-in provider, never in readable form), your name, and, if you choose, your gender, your preferred units and a profile photo. If you don't give a name when you sign up, your email address is used as your name until you change it.
  • Your training: the results you log (scores, weights, sets, Rx or scaled, PRs), your notes on them, your goals, pinned lifts, and the comments and cheers you give.
  • Your gym: which gym you belong to and your role there. Your gym's owner or coaches may add you by email (including from a roster they import) so they can invite you, and when we set up a gym, we add its owner by email the same way. If you own a gym, we also keep its billing status and trial dates. If your gym connects its check-in system (PushPress), we receive its class check-ins, including the member's email address, so coaches can see who's in today's class.
  • Your phone, for notifications: a notification address for your device (a “push token”), so we can send you notifications.
  • When you last used it: the date you last opened the app or the website, at most once a day.
  • What you send us: feedback and problem reports. A problem report includes the app version, your phone's system version (or your browser on the web) and the names of the last few screens you opened, so we can find the cause. The app shows you this before you send it.
  • Reports and blocks: if you report a post or a person, we keep the report, the reason you gave and a copy of what was reported, so we can act on it. If you block someone, we keep that so we can hide their posts from you. Neither is shown to the person concerned or to your gym.
  • Photos you upload: profile photos, and gym photos or logos if you run a gym.
  • Error reports: when something breaks, an error report is sent to our error-tracking service with technical details and your account id, name, gym and role, so we can tell who was affected and fix it. On the website it also includes your email address.

We don't collect your location or your contacts, we don't read health or fitness data from your phone, and we don't use advertising or analytics trackers in the app. Your coaches can write notes about you, which can include something like an injury to work around; see who can see those below.

Why we use it

To run the service you signed up for: keeping your log, showing your gym's workouts and leaderboards, working out your working weights, sending the notifications you've left on, and answering you when you write in. We also use it to keep the service secure (for example, limiting repeated attempts on some forms) and reliable (fixing the errors we see). That's it.

Who in your gym can see what

WodWiz is built for your gym, so most of what you log is shared with the people you train with, and with nobody in any other gym. In short:

  • Your results, your name and your photo are visible to everyone in your gym. That's what makes the leaderboards work.
  • Notes on a result are visible to your gym too, unless you switch on “Only me” for that note. Then nobody else can read it, not even your coaches.
  • Your goals, your email address and when you last opened WodWiz are visible to your gym's coaches and owner. Coaches can keep notes about members, for example an injury to work around in class. Only your gym's coaches and owner see them, never other members, and they're deleted along with your account.
  • Pinned lifts, notifications, the people you block and anything you send us (including reports) are yours alone.

The app has the full list under Settings → Your data → “Who sees what”. One more thing to know: profile photos and gym photos are stored at web addresses that aren't secret, so anyone who has the link can open the image.

Services that help us run WodWiz

We use a few service providers. Each receives only what it needs to do its job, and only to provide that service to us:

  • Supabase: our database, sign-in and file storage. Everything above is stored here.
  • Vercel: hosts the website and the web app.
  • Expo: delivers notifications to your phone. It receives your device's push token and the notification's text, which can include a teammate's name or the start of a comment.
  • Resend: sends our emails: gym invites, your data export when you ask for it, sign-in emails, billing reminders to gym owners, and our copy of feedback and reports you send.
  • Sentry: error reports, as described above.
  • Anthropic: when a coach imports a week of programming, the workout text they paste is sent to Anthropic's AI to help read it. That's workout text, and we don't add anything about you to it.
  • Upstash: counts recent attempts on a few forms, using your IP address, to stop abuse.
  • Stripe: handles your gym's subscription, for gym owners. It receives the gym's name and the owner's email address, and card details are entered on Stripe's own page; we never see them. Stripe emails owners their receipts.
  • PushPress: only if your gym connects it, as described above.

When a workout links to a YouTube video, the video's preview image loads from YouTube, and the video itself plays on YouTube. We never sell your data, and we never share it with anyone for their own marketing.

Cookies, and what's stored on your device

The web app uses cookies only to keep you signed in and to remember a few preferences. The phone apps (iPhone and Android) keep your sign-in, a copy of recent data (so they open fast) and any results you've saved without a signal on your phone, until they sync. None of them use tracking or advertising cookies.

This website uses Vercel Analytics to count visits in aggregate. It's cookieless and doesn't tie visits to you.

How long we keep it, and deleting your account

We keep your data while you have an account. You can delete your account in the app (Settings → Delete account, or from the “paused” screen if your gym is paused), on the web, or by emailing us. That deletes your profile, your photo, your results and notes (so they come off your gym's leaderboards), your goals, your PR board posts, the notes coaches kept about you, the people you blocked and your feedback.

Your results stay yours while you have an account, even if your gym pauses its subscription or you leave the gym: you can still see them and download them.

A few things work differently:

  • Comments and cheers you left on other people's results, and things you posted for your gym (announcements, photos), stay for the gym but are no longer linked to you.
  • Reports you made stay with us so we can finish acting on them, no longer linked to you.
  • Our nightly backups are kept for about a week, so your data is fully gone from them a week after you delete it.
  • Emails that were already sent stay in the inboxes they went to.

If you're on the launch waitlist, we keep your email until the launch has run its course, or until you ask us to remove it.

Your rights

You can download everything you've logged at any time: in the app, Settings → Your data → “Email me my results”; on the web, Settings → Your data. You can correct your details in Settings, and delete your account as described above. For anything else, such as a copy of everything we hold about you, email hello@wodwiz.com. Depending on where you live (for example, the EU/UK under GDPR, or California under the CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights. We'll honor any valid request wherever you are.

Children

WodWiz isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16: creating or activating an account asks you to confirm you're 16 or older. If you believe a child has an account or has joined the waitlist, email us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

If we make meaningful changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. For anything significant, we'll tell you in the app or by email first.
