Scaling
Scaled
Reduce the barbell to a weight that never demands more than two breaks per set, and substitute the gymnastics progressions you'd use in Fran or Diane.
Beginner
Halve the scheme with an empty bar and ring rows — descending-ascending ladders teach set management better than straight sets.
The story
One of the newer Girls: alternating barbell and gymnastics work in a descending-then-ascending scheme that keeps neither the arms nor the lungs fully in charge. Part of CrossFit's original 'Girls' benchmark series — named workouts introduced by founder Greg Glassman starting in 2003, on the logic that anything that leaves you flat on your back deserves a name like a storm. They serve as repeatable fitness tests: revisit one every few months and the clock tells you whether you're fitter. First posted to CrossFit.com on 2021-01-26.
