Scaling
Scaled
95/65 lb — a load you could cycle in steady singles or small touch-and-go sets without form breaking. Cap the effort around 6 minutes.
Beginner
45-35 lb bar or light dumbbells, 20-30 reps, treating every rep as a deliberate ground-to-overhead. Learn the hang power clean and push press pattern first.
The story
Thirty clean and jerks for time — nothing to hide behind. Grace is the classic test of barbell cycling under fatigue, and a rite of passage at 135/95: the load is manageable for one rep, and the workout asks whether it's manageable for thirty. Often programmed alongside Isabel, its snatch twin. Part of CrossFit's original 'Girls' benchmark series — named workouts introduced by founder Greg Glassman starting in 2003, on the logic that anything that leaves you flat on your back deserves a name like a storm. They serve as repeatable fitness tests: revisit one every few months and the clock tells you whether you're fitter. First posted to CrossFit.com on 2004-06-24.
