Scaling
Scaled
115/75 lb — the round rhythm (fast singles on deadlifts, unbroken hang cleans, jerks in one or two sets) is what to preserve. Grip management is the entire workout.
Beginner
65-75/45-55 lb with 3-4 rounds, or 12-9-6 per round. Learn the hang power clean's hook grip release before adding load — DT eats grip mistakes.
The story
Honors Air Force Staff Sergeant Timothy P. Davis, 28, killed on February 20, 2009, in Afghanistan when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. Five rounds of deadlifts, hang power cleans, and push jerks at 155/105 — DT has become a competition classic, a pure test of barbell cycling and grip management.
