The CrossFit Open is the sport's worldwide participation event: for one workout a week during the season, hundreds of thousands of athletes — from Games champions to first-year members — complete the exact same test and enter their scores on the same leaderboard. Since 2011 that has produced a library of workouts with a special property: each one was designed to be doable by almost anyone, measurable for everyone, and separating at the top.
That design brief makes old Open workouts some of the best benchmarks available. They come with built-in standards (every rep was judged), built-in time caps, and an enormous historical comparison set — you can repeat 14.5 or 19.7 today and know precisely what your score would have meant. Quarterfinals workouts, the harder online stage introduced for the top slice of Open finishers, are included here as the natural next rung.
The workouts below are listed by season and number. Each page carries the full description, rep scheme, loads, and time cap where one applied.
